Why 'The Last'?
My name is Thomas Croxford
My affinity for food wasn’t written in the stars or unavoidable, the truth is it came about from small discoveries - working in the pubs of my home county, the greatest of the Shires, Northamptonshire, glancing through my parents cookery books, and catching episodes of the Great British Menu.
An apprenticeship under Glynn Purnell taught me to be proud of where I come from and serve people curious twists on their greatest food memories and loves. With other experiences gained under Michel Roux Jr and Tom Kerridge, and stints in boutique hotels and increasingly ambitious pubs - collecting several awards along the way - this first career and passion was brought to a premature close by a serious car accident.
A second career as a Chartered Manager and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in major infrastructure project controls, data analysis and governance and assurance followed... But...
Like all good things; I am back in Northamptonshire, curating totally bespoke meals for fellow aficionados of dining and drinking.
What we stand for
The Last is a reflection of our passion, not only for the intensity and emotion of food memories, but in the county of Northamptonshire. And the inspiration of our county runs deep, from where we source our ingredients and draw inspiration, right down to our name.

Our goal is to provide you with a menu worthy of a special occasion, totally bespoke to your wants and needs.

Once you’ve made an enquiry, Thomas will work with you to understand your food loves, hates and explore your favourite meals and food memories. Alternatively, we can provide a portfolio of previous menus and dishes for you to choose from.

Once your menu is designed, we will source as much as we can from Northamptonshire, if that isn’t directly possible, we’ll purchase from a Northamptonshire based distributor. Only once these options aren’t possible for quality or customer requirements reasons, we will purchase from further afield.

Better yet, we bring everything with us and then take it away. And yes, we really mean everything; cutlery, crockery ingredients, cookware – unless you want something else, we’ll lay the table, cook and serve the food, and then take the dirties home with us.

At The Last we believe that any occasion can be elevated by thoughtfully curated food and drink, and take particular pride in serving the foods you can’t cook for yourself at home, with ingredients which are harder to source
